I never thought I’d end up smitten with a mini fridge—but here we are.

Honestly, I didn’t see myself writing this much about fridges this month. When Prime Day was still on, I was scrolling nonstop—hell, even crossing my fingers—for a good deal on one of those tiny retro Smeg fridges for my new cottage (let’s be real, it’s basically a Hobbit house, it’s so small). Spoiler: No luck. Those Smegs look gorgeous, sure, but they’re pricy—like, £999 (that’s around $1,200) pricy. But don’t worry—this little fridge hunt actually has a happy ending!

Turns out, there are totally Smeg dupes out there—and they’re small in both size and price. I stumbled on a cute cream one from a brand I’d never even heard of: Montpellier. It was on sale at Currys for £149 (about $185), down from £199—and I figured, why not give it a shot? Turns out it’s great: quiet, keeps things cold, and fits perfectly on my kitchen counter. That freed up just enough space for a dishwasher, too—stay tuned for my post on picking one of those next.

Montpellier Retro Undercounter Fridge Freezer

Was £199, now £149 at Currys

This 84-liter (about 3 cubic foot) fridge-freezer adds a fun 1950s retro vibe to your kitchen. Its undercounter design makes it ideal for small spaces, and the 25-liter (roughly 0.9 cubic foot) freezer has way more storage than you might think. It’s compact, quiet, and won’t break the bank—what more could you want? Now, if you’re in the US, you might be out of luck with Montpellier (their stuff doesn’t seem to sell here). But don’t stress, fellow mini-fridge lovers! I found a dupe—okay, technically a dupe of a dupe?—with the exact same retro look from a brand called Anypro. And it’s on sale, too: Amazon US has it marked down from $209.99 to $184.99.

Anypro Retro Double-Door Fridge with Freezer

Was $209.99, now $184.99 at Amazon

This double-door model has a 1.1 cubic foot freezer compartment and a 2.1 cubic foot fridge section—plenty of room for all your favorite snacks and ingredients. The partitioning is smart, too: the top shelf is for quick freezing, while the bottom keeps produce, drinks, and leftovers fresh. It’s basically the US-friendly version of that Montpellier find—and just as cute.
