Christmas: The Transformative Tale in Tesco’s Ad

Tesco may have arrived late at the Christmas party (or were other brands simply too early), but that fits its story in BBH London’s festive ad featuring a teenage who only begins celebrating Christmas after everyone else has done.

Directed by duo Alaska, this commercial depicts family members, neighbours and shoppers all taking on festive emblems in sign of their festive spirits, including Christmas trees, baubles and nutcracker figures. A teenaged protagonist initially appears disapproving but changes his attitude upon experiencing a touching sentimental moment.

This campaign recognizes that not everyone finds it easy to feel festive, with its title Helping You To Feel More Christmas reflecting this reality. Set to OMC’s How Bizarre song from their latest release, its lyrics perfectly express just how in-your-face the holidays can seem – until they join in!

Christmas can be an odd holiday. People you wouldn’t normally socialize with come together and eat food they never do anywhere else during the year – not to mention eating candy canes as treats! “One thing’s certain – eventually everyone becomes immersed in its joyous glory!” said deputy ECD Felipe Serradourada Guimaraes. That was our mission when creating their beautiful and delightful rendition of this particular Christmas story!
