Adobe MAX returns with renewed optimism this year after an eventful 18 months for all. Their three-day free event features as its central theme ‘Limitless Creativity for All’ to reimagine creative collaboration in today’s hybrid-working era.
Thriving in today’s rapidly shifting global environment requires resilience and flexibility as much as talent. Over 400 sessions will take place from 26-28 October, including 28 hours of livestreamed content – providing ample opportunities to reinvent, reskill and upgrade yourself.
Speakers at this year’s symposium included Pentagram partners Eddie Opara and Giorgia Lupi, filmmaker and YouTube personality Casey Neistat, as well as Coca-Cola’s global Vice President of Design Rapha Abreu.
Attracting attention among an impressive lineup of world-class creative figures and design professionals are headliner stars like Hollywood actors Riz Ahmed and Tilda Swinton as well as double Oscar winner filmmaker Chloe Zhao – guaranteed crowd pleasers!
Sessions at MAX typically fall into several main themes to assist attendees with finding content most pertinent to them. Here is our insider knowledge that will ensure you make the most of MAX.
Riz Ahmed will join Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad to discuss why more diversity should be represented in film and creative industries, and why difference gives you an advantage in creativity. Additionally, Aardman’s Merlin Crossingham will join Pippa Ehrlich from Aardman for another appearance on October 27th (10:30am BST).
Tilda Swinton will join social media sensation Caleb Finn and director and composer Jang Young Gyu on Thursday 28th (3am BST) to reveal their inspirations and influences. Additionally, on 26th (9:30pm BST), costume designer Paul Tazwell, background supervisor Nina Cinelli and musician Adekunle Gold will discuss how creative vision can come alive on stage and screen.
Adobe MAX 2018 highlights creative collaboration as one of its primary tenets as we transition towards hybrid-working future. Indeed, its first day keynote on Tuesday 26th October (5pm BST) titled Create Tomorrow Together will focus specifically on this subject matter.
Adobe Chief Product Officer Scott Belsky will host this session to introduce attendees to the latest developments in Creative Cloud mobile apps and show how teams from around the world can collaborate more effectively and productively – without needing to visit a studio.
Adobe introduced their Content Authenticity Initiative at MAX two years ago; since then they have taken steps to combat disinformation and empower creatives; more will be revealed during MAX 2018.
MAX attendees will also have the chance to exercise their collaborative muscles by participating in art projects, portfolio reviews and other learning experiences during this event. Adobe MAX offers practical sessions focused on getting the most from Adobe’s creative apps – no matter which discipline your work falls under. There will also be opportunities to put Adobe’s latest offerings through rigorous tests, as well as participate in creative challenges.
Rob de Winter will demonstrate how to maximize their flexibility while working from any location through tablet and desktop versions of Photoshop for maximum flexibility when on the move. Attend this session (27th October between 4pm and 7pm BST).
At MAX we had the privilege of experiencing another new feature for manipulating images on-the-fly: Adobe Photoshop’s ability to import, open, adjust and non-destructively edit camera raw files on iPad. Editors could also witness intelligent colour correction with Premiere Pro’s Auto Tone feature in action – more will be revealed at MAX!
Upskilling the next generation
TikTok and Instagram have created an even playing field for creators, helping a new wave of talent gain global acclaim while sharing their voices on pressing social issues. Adobe MAX lifts the lid on how this all works.
Valentina Vee will share secrets for crafting TikTok posts that get noticed – from engaging with hashtag trends, mastering TikTok in-app features and increasing production values with Adobe Premiere Rush on mobile – at her three sessions on October 28th: 1am, 1:30pm and 7pm BST.
At 11am BST on February 13th, Kon Ermakov of YouTube collective Sidemen and Younes Zarou of social influencer will talk about building an audience through captivating content and compelling storytelling, engaging your followers behind-the-scenes. Vice Magazine’s Luna Wedler created The Sophie Scholl Project which chronicles a young Nazi resistance fighter’s journey using Instagram – providing an engaging example of social storytelling at work.
